How Can a Trust Be Beneficial in an NC Estate Plan?

One of the most powerful estate planning tools you can use is a trust. Trusts change the ownership of your assets, creating legal separation between your wealth and your name. With a trust, you’ll find your money and valuables shielded from invasive taxes, creditor claims, lawsuits, and more.

Trusts do more than offer asset protection. They also give you the flexibility and control you deserve when passing on an inheritance. Trusts, for instance, give you control over the timing and manner in which funds are distributed. This is beneficial because it prevents beneficiaries who tend to overspend from receiving their entire inheritance as a lump sum. Trusts also allow you to leave financial assistance to loved ones with special needs without putting their eligibility for public benefits, like SSI or disability, at risk.

With the numerous types of trusts available, it’s crucial to consult with a trust attorney in Wake County as soon as possible. Call our law firm in Cary, NC, to learn more.
