Steven Lundberg, JD, LLM.

Steven is an experienced Estate Planning Lawyer. Steven is licensed in both North Carolina and California. Over the last decade, Steven has primarily practiced in the areas of estate planning and tax planning. Steven is also a former Attorney Advisor for the Social Security Administration. Adding greater insight to Social Security Disability, Supplemental Security Income, and Medicaid programs.

Steven grew up in Southern California, but he spent some time in Montana while serving in the United States Air Force. While in Montana, Steven was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

His primary mission was safeguarding nuclear ICBM missiles dispersed over a 5,500 square mile area of Montana. Steven met his wife, Miranda, while they were both stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base.

In 2008, Steven obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Legal Studies from Kaplan University, graduating with the Latin honors of summa cum laude. In 2013, Steven obtained his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern Law School, graduating with the Latin honors of cum laude for being in the top ten percent of his class.

In 2021, Steven obtained his Masters of Law (LLM) in Taxation from Loyola Law School, graduating with honors. Steven is also a Certified Tax Coach ™ through the American Institute for Certified Tax Planners. Additionally, he was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers in 2016, 2018, 2019, and 2024.

Steven resides in Holly Springs with his wife, Miranda, and their three children.

In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, collecting vinyl records, and spending quality time with his family.

Kim Le, JD.

Attorney Kim Le is licensed to practice law in North Carolina and works with Compass Estate & Tax Planning in the role of Of Counsel. She focuses on helping families understand their estate-planning options clearly and thoughtfully, with particular attention
to bilingual Vietnamese-English clients and multigenerational households.

Kim earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2005, and her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2008.

Her prior legal experience includes Social Security Disability matters, FCPA-focused investigations, complex litigation and antitrust e-discovery, and consulting work related to Vietnamese law and cultural context. She is also an experienced Vietnamese legal translator.

Outside of work, Kim enjoys spending time at the beach, giving back to the community, and being with friends and family.

Stephanie K. Faris, JD.

Stephanie’s legal philosophy is rooted in the belief that proactive planning is the ultimate key to peace of mind at every stage of life. Before joining Compass Estate and Tax Planning, she spent over ten years honing her expertise as an estate attorney in small firm settings.

Stephanie bridges the gap between complicated legal language and genuine human connection. She blends a creative lens with a high-energy and proactive commitment to her clients, ensuring that she protects every legacy with technical precision and a vibrant personal touch. Her pro bono background reinforces her dedication to making the law accessible and compassionate for everyone. 

A proud “Legal Eagle,” Stephanie earned her J.D., cum laude, from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where she served as Law Review Symposium Editor, OutLaw President, and Women’s Law Caucus Secretary. Previously, she studied at Duke University, Miami University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 

A dedicated advocate for the senior community, Stephanie is a member of the Triangle-based Coalition of Care. She collaborates closely with a dynamic group of female professionals in the senior care and end-of-life space, working to make difficult times easier for families through a holistic, team-based approach to care. 

While Stephanie has lived in Jordan and across the U.S., from Massachusetts and Wisconsin to West Virginia and Ohio, she has proudly called the Triangle home for over three decades. She currently resides in Chatham County with her spouse, Greg, their two children, and their beloved dogs. 

Outside of the office, Stephanie enjoys running, reading, gardening, volunteering with CORA, and watching as many movies as she can.
